Drilling and fastening
A tool for drilling wood must be chosen in strict accordance with the method by which you will work. If necessary, it does not hurt to make a transverse hole. To do this, you will need to take the center tools or, as they are called differently, perks. And to create longitudinal holes, you should purchase special spiral drills.
When drilling large holes, cracks and chips can form. To prevent such defects, first you need to drill a tree in the right place with a drill that has a diameter less than the necessary (2-3 times). Then you can drill a hole of the desired size to the middle of the material. Turn the material to the other side and do the same with the second half.
There is an alternative version of the drilling method that prevents the formation of defects. It is necessary to the reverse side of the material (at the place where the drill comes out) attach a small board. You need to stop drilling right as you feel that the drill went into this board.
How to disguise an erroneously made hole? If it is not through, it’s simple enough. You can just turn the board with the back of the back, or you can take a cork drill and make a plug. In the second case, seams will be visible that can be disguised using varnish. Another way is to cut a piece of wood with an unnecessary hole and insert another whole, suitable in structure of the tree instead.
And a few tricks, how to attach two wooden details much more reliable. Applying nails for fastening, you need to choose those that are somewhat longer than the required diameter. In this case, the protruding ends simply bend and drive into the board. To increase the strength of screw fastening, you can use PVA glue, in which it is worth dipping a screw.
