It is not as difficult, as it may seem, to put the walls on their own. Putty is a finish layer in the preparation of walls for painting or pasting walls. It is applied with a very thin layer of 1-2 mm used to hide small cracks and other minor defects. One but: for putty, the surface of the wall should be as close as possible to the absolutely flat.
Before starting work, you need to prepare the surface: remove old wallpaper, remove dust and dirt, clean the old paint, rust or oil spots. To improve further adhesion of putty with a wall, we apply a primer penetration with antibacterial properties to the prepared surface with a roller. It dries within 3-4 hours.
For putty, 2 spatulas will be required – the main and additional. We put the main putty, we remove the excess auxiliary. Don’t choose too big spatulas. If you are not a professional in this matter, then it will be easier for you to work with medium -sized spatulas. The smaller the width of the spatula, the more accurate the work is obtained. Put their putty either over the entire surface of the wall, or pointwise – to places that require alignment.
Put a spatula at an angle of 45 degrees to the wall and evenly distribute the putty. We pay special attention to the corners. It is here that irregularities and cracks are most common. The putty dries for about a day. After this time, using a grinding grater or just a bar, wrapped in sandpaper of medium grain, in a circular motion we clean the huddled surface. At the same time, all transitions and defects are erased. If they are not eliminated, then with further work with the walls, it is these places that will be striking.
After this procedure, we get perfectly even walls, ready for painting and pasting with wallpaper.
