Gothic style has become the pinnacle of the architecture of medieval Europe and is distinguished by grace and majesty. It should be used only in rooms with sufficient height – it is they who will let the Gothic furniture be turned upside down.
Wooden panels, finishing stone – all this makes the room quite heavy, so this design is suitable for apartments of true style lovers, or for the design of libraries, cabinets, and official living rooms. To create the effect of monumentality, the basement of the wall, door and window openings can be lined with stone or tiles that mimic it. The combination of the homogeneous background of the stone wall (or plastered under stone) and carved elements from a solid cedar, oak, larch, juniper, nut, spruce is also characteristic.
The Gothic style prefers vaulted ceilings, but, however, flat, bizarrely broken into areas with a pattern of rafters, can also be suitable. You can complicate the ceiling pattern with the help of stucco elements (borders, sockets, cornices, etc.). The floor can be both stone and from a rough dark board, or imitate these materials (tiles, laminate, parquet). The use of carpets is also allowed.
The interior in the Gothic style should be decorated with wooden beds with lush, tall canes of dense heavy fabric.
Knight’s theme, characteristic of the Gothic style interior – reproduction of book miniatures with the image of battles, campaigns, ancient coats of arms covered with patina armor and cold weapons. All this will take a worthy place, along with hunting trophies: scarecrow, heads and horns of animals.
Forging lamps and chandeliers are good for details. Pictures in this style are rarely used – preference is given mainly to wall murals. It is desirable to have carved stone elements, ceramics and majolica tiles. Perhaps the device of a fireplace lined with stone or ceramic tiles.
Gothic style walls are usually decorated with fabric trellises. If this is too consumption, it can be limited to drapery from dense curtain fabric with embroidery in the form of stylized colors, copies, monograms.
