Audi is in turmoil amidst a collapse in sales, its development strategy is currently being urgently rewritten, and it is unknown what the outcome will be.
Audi is getting worse at competing on equal terms with BMW and Mercedes-Benz, so the management of the “four rings” decided to take a swing at the luxury segment — they say there is no need to chase circulation and the profit from each car sold is higher. Audi’s move into the luxury segment will be gradual and will last for years, and therefore the next new products will be positioned in the premium segment that is familiar to it, including the new Audi A6.
Audi is abandoning the concept of dividing the indexes of its new models by the type of power plant: it was assumed that in the future all “electric” cars will receive even indexes, and “hydrocarbon” cars — odd ones, but against the background of weak sales of electric cars, such differentiation is considered inappropriate, it also confuses consumers. We are saying this because the new Audi A6 was supposed to be called the Audi A7, but in the end it will still be called the Audi A6, as it was before, that is, there is nothing to get used to.
So far, Audi has published only one teaser of the new A6 in the station wagon body (Avant), but advertising videos of the new “six” have already leaked onto the Internet, from which we can conclude that the new Audi A6 is the result of a deep restyling of its predecessor, the proportions of the car have not changed fundamentally. The electric Audi A6 e-tron on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform has different, plumper proportions and its own lighting design, in particular, two-story headlights, while the headlights of the new “hydrocarbon” Audi A6 have a traditional monolithic shape.
