In the coming months, the Chinese company Li Auto will bring to market the first electric crossover, the Li i8, and later the model range will be expanded with other crossovers with the letter “i”, which stands for the word intelligent.
The Li Auto company, behind which is the Chinese entrepreneur Li Xiang, turns ten years old this year, and it is celebrating its first anniversary in good shape. Last year, Li Auto sold 500,508 cars, which is 33.1% more than sales in 2023. Formally, the entire volume was sold in China; Li Auto does not officially export its cars yet, but thousands of cars are sent abroad by gray dealers.
Currently, the Li Auto model lineup consists of four plug-in hybrid crossovers – L6, L7, L8, L9 and the electric minivan Mega. It was hybrids that brought Li Auto money and fame, but in 2023, Li Xiang decided to develop the electric vehicle direction. The Li Mega electric minivan was received coolly by the market, partly because of its too high price, partly because of its overly futuristic design, entirely subordinated to aerodynamics.
